La Finca (the farm in Spanish) is the home of Charlie and Tzeitel Kersey, and baby Alida. Located on a quiet county road in Willow River, MN, La Finca is 100 miles north of the Twin Cities Metro Area and 50 miles south of Duluth. Our forty acre farm is a mix of fields, forest, and wetlands where we grow 5 acres of certified organic vegetables and raise chickens on pasture in portable hoophouses. We have designed our website with plenty of photos so you can get a feel for the farm and learn more about the benefits of becoming a member of our Community Supported Agriculture (known as CSA) Program. Thanks for the visit!

As a CSA farm, members purchase a share of the harvest before the growing season begins, paying for their share in scheduled installments. Once the harvest begins in mid-June, Summer Share members receive a weekly delivery containing fresh, certified organic vegetables, fruit, and herbs. Following the Summer Share in October, Fall Share Members receive the best of the fall veggies, and our Winter Share extends our season to the end of January! We also offer a free range chicken share with delivery in summer or fall. Members also receive a weekly newsletter with preparation tips, recipes, and an update from the fields.
At La Finca we are committed to producing high quality food while limiting the impact on our natural resources. Each growing season crops are rotated through our vegetable fields, compost is spread, cover crops are grown, and rock powders containing micronutrients are incorporated. Our friendly broiler chickens flourish as they spend their days within the fallow vegetable fields, leaving behind their "fertilizer" to naturally enrich the soil. By focusing the production of food on a small portion of our farm, we are able to leave large tracts undisturbed for our wildlife neighbors. Bald eagles, hawks, coyotes, deer, songbirds, and even the occasional bear are just a few of the animal that call our farm home.
About Us
The name of our farm is inspired by Tzeitel's native country of Panama where, from 1995-1998, I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer and worked in sustainable agriculture. Living and working in the countryside of Panama introduced me to intelligent and thoughtful farmers who were taking risks by questioning their traditional farming practices and implementing soil conservation and organic farming practices in their fields. Sharing their agrarian existence, which is rooted in physical labor, strong families, and involvement in the local community, provided me with precious experiences that continue to inspire our work here at La Finca. We feel fortunate to live where we do and enjoy sharing our farm with CSA members. We invite you to join us!
